Is this true?
DC bloodwork came back elevated for some celiac markers and this is what the dr said. He said if we're Ashkenazic we have a little celiac...

The terminology is incorrect.

Many people are gluten sensitive.

Celiac referrs to a disease where the body cannot digest the enzymes in the gluten and it destroys the persons gut and can cause cancer if ignored.

I would go to a gastro

Did he recommend re-testing to see what the numbers do like 3 months later.

Like my dd one time was elevated. Next time normal. Pediatrician told me don’t need to worry. I double checked with a pediatrics gastro and he said if you retest and it’s fine you are good. ( we have celiac and crohns in family.)

Most of us are gluten intolerant these days.
Our gluten has gone from a healthy food to a chemical laden non digestible cows food.

It’s really concerning that an actual doctor would say that. You can’t be a little bit pregnant or a little bit dead or a little bit celiac. Either your immune system reacts to gluten as a threat by creating antibodies or it doesn’t. Please take him to a different doctor.

Not celiac but gluten sensitivity in which the numbers likely wouldn't be elevated if she was only a little sensitive. If numbers were elevated, I would see a pediatric GI and have endoscopy.

This is really messed up, and true. I know someone who was told by his gastro that he's fine with wheat, but it's the modern treatment of it that's causing the problem Surprised

If some markers were elevated I would make an appointment with a gastro and find out for sure. Celiac is not the same as gluten sensitivity. If a person with mild celiac eats gluten it will eventually cause harm enough that is not good.

Most people are sensitive to gluten. There is not so thing as "a little celiac ".

celiac means it creates antibodies specifically against the lining of the intestines in enough quantity to cause visible damage on an endoscopy.

"A little bit celiac" is probably his way of trying to explain in layperson terms that the immune reactivity they're seeing in the bloodwork is probably not enough to cause substantial, obvious intestinal damage, but it's still setting off some sort of immune reaction.

I agree that most of us react to gluten these days. It's been so hybridized and treated with so much glyphosate that it leaks through our guts only partially digested and our immune system, not recognizing it, attacks it as foreign, creating an inflammatory cascade.

No, plenty of people test negative for celiac. I would get a second opinion.

I do think lots of people are sensitive to wheat and/or gluten, though.
