DH and I were driving north on a road in Jackson. DH (B"H a super careful driver who hasnt had a moving violation in maybe 20-30 years) made a full stop at a stop sign, looked both ways and continued ahead. Within seconds, we felt the impact of another car that came from behind. This car hit us in the driver's door, and her car in her front right headlights/bumper area. From the noise of the impact, it sounded like damage was way worse. We both drove away from the accident scene, B"H.
There happened to have been a police who was a block away who heard the noise, but definitely wasnt there when the accident happened, who showed up within minutes. We told the police what happened and he asked the other driver what happened. The other driver said that she was making a turn, and was at the intersection earlier than us, and was not coming from behind us. The police took that to be the case and it seems the police wrote this on the police report.
This is mind boggling because I clearly remember a male driver at the spot where this driver who we had the accident with, said she was coming from.
Were starting to doubt our sanity.
Ideally, Id love to get a video of this accident, but there may not be any security cameras in the area.
We havent called our insurance company yet.
Is there anything we can do to prove our case, or because damages arent that great, does it even pay? Other drivers car is a luxury vehicle, I believe to be a Mercedes, so that will take costs up though.
Your advice and experience will be greatly appreciated.

Your insurance company will do their own investigation and determine who was at fault. But if she was behind you how did she hit your driver door? That seems to indicate she came from a side street unless I'm misunderstanding.

She sped up from behind and that was the point (driver door) where the 2 cars touched.

Also not understanding how she can hit a driver door if she came from behind.
But first thing, call the insurance company. They are on your side here.
Tell them what you think happened. Stress careful driving record, that your husband came to a full stop and looked and there was no one there.

When 2 cars are traveling and one speeds past the other, why cant we get hit, her on her right side, us on our left, as she sped past us?

I was in an accident a few years ago the other driver was totally at fault but lied to the officer and the insurance investigator. Making it look like I was at fault. Her insurance was refusing to pay for the damage. Once the cars where inspected it was clear that she lied and her insurance payed for the damage.
Physical evidence like a car usually will help determine the truth.
The other driver was someone I knew I begged her to tell the truth she refused.
Hopefully once the cars are inspected they will see the truth.

Thanks.
1. How much does it cost?
2- I cant believe a dashcam would be able t record all 4 directions outside the car.

A dash am can’t record all 4 sides, but it will prove if you stopped at the stop sign, or if the car was coming from the side, or back. It tracks speed as well .
It is a very helpful device

If it helps and is reasonable it may be a good thing to have. But it sounds too good to be true.. Ill get videos of conversations in the car, because thats where the lens is. That I dont need.

A dash cam faces out( you can technically choose to face in whichever direction you want though). It does record sound from inside the car.

We got one from Aliexpress.
was 50 shekels! but if we would get from a regular store it would be 250 Shekels.
Its definetly worth it. We did change tthe memory card it came with which is cheap to get.
It saves every 5 mins the clip so if you know what time you are looking for you dont have to hear and fastforward through the recording.
it has wide lense front camera and a small camera facing to the rear.
I hope there is survillance near where it happened. Is there any buildings near by that you can ask. Even if you can get from 2 mins earlier it will show that she was driving behind you there isnt a way she could have been turning towards you.

We installed front and rear dash cams for this reason. After having an issue, we realized a few hundred dollars is a worthwhile investment. I know this doesn't help you now, and I'm sorry for your horrible predicament. But hopefully this is an action you can take today that will help you for tomorrow.
I'm so glad you're OK BH and so sorry that you're having this tzarah.
