I’m so sorry! We had this five years ago I’m still scarred. You need to get a K-9 dog to see where in the house they are located. The dog will need to come back a few times to make sure it didn’t spread. It took us about a month to get rid of it. We had to treat it in a few places in the house. Most exterminators will tell you to do the entire house but it’s a massive job because you’ll need to dry in high heat every article of clothing. I’d try to find someone who will do it based on the dog.
The guy with the dogs we used doesn’t do it anymore but he once share this recommendation with me. Diana- +1 (718) 964‑3484 has k9 dogs and might be able to help.

If anyone has Brooklyn exterminator recommendations that worked to actually get rid of them for good please post.

BTDT just last year. You don't have to throw your clothing away. Everything will have to go through the dryer on high heat. I live in an apartment so the landlord was treating the entire space. You will be living out of bags and boxes during this time. They didn't end up sending a dog to my place since we showed the exterminator a picture of the big and once he confirmed that it was a bed big he would only treat the entire space. Just the other night I had a nightmare that I saw one. Yes, it is very traumatic and I had a three month old at the time.

I had them 20 years ago in an apartment in Queens.
I had to wash and dry (high if possible) everything we owned. We had the dry cleaners steam press anything that was not washable. The complex paid for the exterminator. As my son was not getting any bites we assumed it was not in the living room or his room. The first time we only treated our bedroom (my husband was covered in bites, I just had a few). The second round we did the whole apartment. It was not fun.
They can go 5 months without eating. And yes they can come back from next door. You may need to do follow up checks.
When work announced there was a case of bedbugs, I panicked. They totally downplayed the situation.

Unfortunately, I have some experience with this. I think many people do. Panic is normal. BTDT
Fortunately, there are things you can do about it.
If you have a trustworthy exterminator, go with that. Unfortunately, we wasted money on a scammer who promised us heat treatment but didn't do that. It wasn't just the money (although it was significant). It was the tons of work we put into preparing out apartment for the treatment.
Here is what I've learnt.
What works:
*HEAT. Your dryer on high heat for 20-40 minutes (depending on how hot it gets) will kill bed bugs and eggs. So whatever can go into the dryer, do it. (You can wash first if that works for you, but it's really the heat. You can also put things in a black garbage bag outside in the summer sun (not sure how long) (if it wont get stolen). Focus on your bed. Pillows, blankets, stuffed animals - into the dryer. Any bugs in them are dead.
*CIMEXA. You can buy it on amazon. It's based off diatomaceous earth (which also works, but slower). It's a white powder that kills them mechanically. When a bed bug touches this stuff, it's dead in a day. It works. Spread a thin layer around your bed, under your bed, under your mattress, along the walls. Not too thick. Don't breath it in.
What doesn't usually work
-chemical sprays
Other helpful stuff:
-Bed interceptors. You can buy them on amazon. You put them under the legs of your bed. They will trap bugs from going on/off the bed. It's also a good way to check if you have bed bugs.
-Isolate your bed. Your bed should not touch the walls, your blanket should not touch the floor.
-Mattress covers that completely enclose your mattress so no bugs can go in/out. Also for your box spring.
-Sealing things. You can seal things (ie, your mattress) but keep in mind that it takes a looong time for bed bugs to die this way. So just keep your mattress sealed in a mattress cover indefinitely.

I live in an aptment building just had it the landlord treated it.used EZ pest control only had to wash the betting has been few months and bh all clean

Im sorry, OP. It’s such a nightmare. Use a professional exterminating company such as Terminix or Orkin. They will come back to inspect after treatment .Get the mattress covers. They have pillow covers as well. Apply high heat to all clothing and linens.

We got an exterminator. He did a treatment and now we’re in the stage of putting everything in the dryer and hoping the treatments will work.
We recently stayed at someone’s house for yontif. I informed them in case we spread it to them. They’re getting an inspection. I feel terrible. I’m praying they don’t have any. I won’t be able to sleep for weeks until I know they are away for good.
If anyone had success stories of bed bugs that never came back please share. I’m worried that as soon as I get rid of them they will walk back into my house from the neighbor. How did you sleep while you knew they were around?
Do I tell my cleaning lady?

Use cimexa asap!!! Apply with a makeup brush on floors/walls/under mattresses/ inside electric outlets. It is the ONLY thing that works. You can get it on Amazon.
We had them 10 years ago and did the professional route putting EVERYTHING we own in garbage bags for 6 weeks etc etc
It was an absolute nightmare. Thank God in the interim they have discovered Cimexa and it saved our lives when we came home from abroad with bedbugs 4 years ago.
