I have one on and off. I clean everything myself usually. If I'm lucky and get one for like 3 hours then I make sure that everything is done and all she has to do is wash-wash the floor, the bathroom, the hallway....

GR I thought that was what you are supposed to do who wants to clean shower curtains when you can use 'disposable' liners

OH! count me in too. I always thought I was one of the only one without cleaning help. Everyone here always talks about their cleaning ladies. Same here. I try to keep my house neat and tidy. My kids help too. I do admit there are places I don't really get to, like my windows and walls have gorgeous handprints, behind the couches, oven, fridge, under beds I won't even talk about. Atleast it looks clean and tidy as soon as you walk in, and like my husband always says "a house is not a museum"

No cleaning help here either. But its not even bec. of financial reasons, I just cant stand having some 'fremda' woman roaming my house, going into my closets and stuff, and getting to know my house inside out! I need my privacy. B'h I could manage without one. If I would be a full-time working mom with a bunch of little kids, I dont think I would be able to manage without one.

I know that I am bad when a lady we paid for her help last pasah took a whole day to clean just my tiny kitchen and that wasn't even to go through the freezer and fridge. I did that before she came. But I said it a million times and I got a sign on my desk that says it all it says "Don't worry about my messy desk it is the sign of a busy person worry about a clean desk this is the sign of someone needing something to do." My mom had a sign on her front door that said this house is clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy.

My dh doesn't think that we need a cleaning lady but I could definitely use one every once in a while.

I dont' know...I live in a Sephardi neighborhood, their homes are immaculate, and they are anything but dull (speaking as the one who inhabits the only home on my street that is not immaculate

I'm together with the rest of you! cleaning house was never one of my strong points and we could never afford steady cleaning help. There were times that you couldn't see the floor of their bedroom because of the mess of papers and toys. Even before Pesach, my oven doesn't get a thorough cleaning - it just gets sold with the chometz.
But I can tell you there's light at the end of the tunnel - my girls are growing up and they clean better than I ever did (when they get motivated, that is) and their rooms are now the cleanest in the house.

No cleaning help either
"cleaning the house while the children are growing is like shoveling snow while its still snowing"
cute saying, but growing up in cleveland I found there was a point in shoveling as it was snowing- it was easier and in the end you had less to do. see the nimshal?

No cleaning lady here.
My older kids are 13, 10 and 8. I have allocated jobs to them. One gets the living room; one gets the kitchen and one gets the bathroom (picking up and sweeping. not cleaning). Each one is supposed to do 10 minutes a day on their area. I can't say that they actually do it every day but usually we get them to do it about twice a week. Once is on Friday. My 10 year old daughter does sponja in either the kitchen or the living room. She's good!
Every month we rotate the jobs. So far, I'm on the second month.

No cleaning lady here, but I don't think I need a cleaning lady as much as a garbage truck. We just have WAY too much stuff.

<<sigh>> no cleaning lady, and there are certain jobs I hate doing so they don't get done like they should When can I clean the babies' room? I clean when they nap and obviously can't be in their room at that time so . . . . I just swept while ds was napping and he woke up and cried a bit poor moosh!
dh doesn't realize how difficult it is to find a cleaning lady anyway. You need someone responsible, reliable, someone you can communicate with (speaking spanish doesn't help in Israel!!!) etc. I'm also embarrassed for someone else to see/clean my mess. oy, you're def not alone midwest!
