Does anyone have any suggestions for a book/sefer/idea that I could learn with my very precocious 9 year old DD over the summer?
TIA

I learned Halichos Bas Yisroel with each of my girls at age 11 in preparation for their Bas Mitzvahs.

Here are some things that I've learned with my daughters at similar ages:

- Pirkei Avos
- Tehillim
- A parsha that was skipped in school (My daughters' Chumash curricula have never started at Bereishis and gone straight through Vzos Habracha - there are always skipped parshiyos that can be learned in the summer.)
- R' Schwab on Prayer (Note that while the language is accessible because it's in English, the concepts often are lofty for children to understand.)
- Selected segments of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch.

could you elaborate on how you taught parsha, pirkei avos... so she was actually interested?

I find these topics fascinating, so maybe I can't relate. Smile

But my kids get a good dose of attention from me, which helps. And the learning is focused around their questions and answers and ideas and interests.

I was thinking Mishlei might be nice.
OU Nach Yomi has recordings online, about 20 minutes per perek...

Lots of good ideas already.

- The full story of Chanukah. There is no "sefer Chanukah," but there is an Artscroll book that puts together a history nicely from the available sources. It's called, Chanukah: Its History, Observance, And Significance, A presentation based on Talmudic and traditional sources.

- Sefer Daniel, or selected perakim.

- Mishnayos. Sukkah is a nice easy one, and you could aim to finish right before the chag.

- Aggadata. If you prefer English, the Tales from the Gemara series is great and has pictures, but it is out of print so you would have to buy used.
