My toddler is always grumpy.

Siblings always play with him, DH and I do too, we do everything to try and make him happy but he's still grumpy! It's so frustrating.

Before he started school he was a happy child but for a year he has this consistent frown.

We of course are going to switch schools but does anyone here have any advice?

I think he does, but maybe not enough?
Everyone is so nice to him, he's adorable, but always in a bad mood!
Are there specific foods I should look into or supplements? I feel so lost!

What does a bad mood look like? Is he napping in school?

So when he was younger, before he ever went to school he was better. But ever since he started even at home he is grumpy and does things to upset siblings or us. And we still adore him but it's difficult when everyone is happy and nothing we do seems to make him happy.

So I think we need information to help you with this.

Did he started school last September? How old was he then? Did the change happen suddenly, literally on the first day of school? Or was it more like a few weeks later you realized that he'd been like that for a little while, probably since school started or so...? It's hard to know whether something in schoolw as the actual cause, or whether he happened to start school at the same time as something else started happening.

Can you describe more what "grumpy" looks like? DOes he tantrum a lot? In response to what? Does he lie around not wanting to do anything? Bounce off the walls? Cry when he doesn't get his way? Seem to have low energy? Seem withdrawn? Is he better when left alone than with other people? When have you seen him happy?

How does he eat and how many hours is he sleeping? How often does he have wet and dirty diapers? Have you brought up these concerns with your doctor, had him checked for strep, ear infection, anything else that might be bothering him?

I’m no expert but I would think it’s something medical like physically something is wrong and he’s not acting himself because of it. Not sure if a full bloodwork would show anything….
