How much would/do you pay for summer tutor?

Already committed to a job in a camp this summer but it's a lot of work for not that much pay and I'm wondering if I can do better next year.

Location is upstate NY. I'd be interested in pulling kids out for tutoring during their camp's learning time, I'm assuming there are kids in mainstream camps for whom the learning time is too hard? I'd also be available for limited times after camp hours.

I have a master's in special ed and additional training in reading and executive function - I don't call myself a specialist because my hands-on experience has been more generalized, but I have the knowledge and resources to work on those skills. I have over 10 years of experience as a SETSS/resource room provider.

Assuming your child does not have any government funded services over the summer, and you're looking for help to get or keep them up to speed over the summer, how much would you pay for this?

My kids are too young to be up to tutoring, but I'm a teacher who sometimes tutors during the summer. It's similar pay to the year - whatever that is in you community (in mine is $60-$100/hour for a trained teacher)

One of my son's tutors charge for $75, per 45 minute session (hebrew and English reading). Another tutor is $85 for a hour (chumash / gemara). We have them tutored year round, to keep up and get a jump start on the next year's material. My daughter has high school level tutors for $75 a hour and she gets a break during summers.

But yeah, our board of Ed tutoring here is a group of 5 once a week. It's useless- people use private tutors.

My forte is English/general studies. I can do ELA and general learning/executive skills through high school level, math and specific subject matter through 8th grade level. If a kid is really bad at Hebrew, I can help them with that, but my skills there max out at a lower level - maybe 3rd grade.

I'm a reading specialist with a degree in Special education. I would probably charge $75 for half hour if I would take cash in the summer. I do SETSS during the year, and I bh have a full caseload. If I would choose to work during the summer it would have to be worthwhile, as I can't count on that many cases...

Feeling like a fool realizing I would only need to get 6 sessions a week at $75 to make as much for the summer as I'm getting from the day camp job that's twice the headache. I thought I needed a break from teaching but I think I'm going to strongly consider it next year

The reason I never bet on this is that I assumed there wouldn't be enough demand. Now that I did the math I realize I would come out ahead if I even got 3 kids twice a week. That's not a huge caseload, there must be 3 kids in the mountains who need a tutor and would pay for one. If there are 4 then I would come out ahead financially, too (3 would get me the same money but way ahead in the amount of time, energy, and childcare I put out.)

I don't go upstate for the summer but my son has tutoring usually during the Summer in day camp. It the same tutor from during the year.

I live in Baltimore and the Kriah tutors are $50 plus for anywhere between 30 minutes -45. They also want to do it 3x week minimum which is just a lot!

I pay for tutors when needed. Cost depends on the subject and grade/level. For middle school math , I used an online tutor with very good results. It was $25/30 mins. I just hired a Gemara tutor who is an experience educator. He is $50/30 mins. I’m supplementing with a young rebbe tutor for the summer and don’t know the cost yet but prob around 40-50/hour. In addition to knowing lots about the subject, tutoring in itself is a skill that is worth paying for. Many tutors will be flexible on the length of the session, which can make it easier to afford.
