Let's discuss.

I am so shaken by the book.

I read it several months back. I think the premise is true.

It was good. I liked the “bossy and unsexy invisible G-d.”

Her research was meticulous; the insights about “The Merchant of Venice” were interesting; the chapter on Ellis Island put that myth to rest once and for all.

I read it with my dad, who grew up in rural Michigan. His dad came to the US from Germany in 1939, at the age of 10. I grew up with no experience of antisemitism. My dad says he felt no animosity either, though he shared that his dad never let the kids wear any sign of Judaism publically (no yarmulke or tzitzis when leaving the house).

What sort of world will are my kids growing up in?

The title speaks for itself. People love inspirational, generalizable Anne Franks who aren't here to speak up for themselves. Not so much those loud, visibly Jew-y Jews with their annoying human needs and their insistence on not being murdered.

This book should be required reading. I don't know for who lol. But definitely for someone.

I didn’t read the book
I first heard about it last summer and thought eh who needs to read that

Post October 7, it’s become glaringly obvious that the world loves dead Jews

The last 8 months have been a frightening revelation.
