Yeshivish here, looking for refined summer clothes. Is the long denim skirts not what this crowd is wearing?

It depends on how yeshivish, and on the style of the denim, and the age.
My daughters wear denim. I actually don't, but I do wear denim look-alikes. I have friends and relatives who wear denim, and some who don't. Some will wear more of a denim straight skirt, not a long hippier style.....

I guess if it's a question for you, perhaps see what your friends are doing.

How yeshivish?

I'm yeshivish and wear long denim skirts.

Examples

Though I wouldn't wear tighter ones that have jean styling

I think it used to give more of a modern cheap look but lately, it's literally just another fabric to wear.

Denim is a very western material and "new" but it's becoming more popular to wear in Yeshivish cirlces.

There is also probably an age aspect as well as how you dress all day. So I agree with asking your friends. I wont wear denim to work and I don't care to change when I get home so If I go somewhere Ill see my friends I'm wearing the same clothes I work to work all day. I think most people I socialize with are like this.

Not sure what you mean by "new" I'm 30 and have been wearing denim since I was a kid.
It might be new for jewish stores, but I've been wearing for a while from anthropologie, gap, and random other places

Denim is a durable fabric intended for physical labor. If you see physical labor as unrefined, you probably don't want to wear denim. If you have no problem being associated with it, there's no issue with denim.

ETA:

Just in case anyone stumbles on this old thread, I think I wasn't clear: I'm not calling denim unclassy, I'm calling the anti-denim people classist. Physical labor is not unrefined, and it needs to be done.

Of course I don't mean "new" as in 30 years old... But newer than most fabrics like typical cotton, silk, satin etc.

It only became popular in the 1950's which is a long time ago but it's still considered a modern material which was favored by college and university students.

It's very typical now obv.

I think in yeshivish cirlces, it depends a lot on the color and cut of the outfit.

Same. I would do a denim look but not a thick denim material. Not sure exactly why - maybe I’m too old? (Mid 30’s)

I remember when anything denim was a big no-no but I see lots of yeshivish people wearing denim look now.
