I've never made pulled beef before because DH hates barbeque flavor and any kind of barbeque sauce.
My son requested it so I want to try.
I've got a shoulder roast to use and a crockpot.
Now what?

Shredded or pulled beef is just beef that has been cooked for a long time at a slow temperature so that the muscles and collagen disintegrate.
It doesn't have to be BBQ flavor although that is a very traditional sandwich as there are various recipes with different flavors that result in a very soft pulled consistency.

Dinner Done has a really good pulled meat recipe in slow cooker. It doesn’t have BBQ sauce.

I have that cookbook I'll look. Any recipe I've ever seen had BBQ sauce.

Slow cook it in liquid and some fat, tightly sealed until pull apart tender. Shred. Mix in half a cup of your favorite sauce (together with the cooking liquid) once done, so it's not overpowering. (Dh also doesn't like BBQ sauce on meat.)

This is an awesome recipe that doesn't use bbq sauce.
I also hate sweet/bbqy style pulled beef and I consistently go back to this.
No need for the fries, you can serve it any way you'd like.
