So I had this discussion with my better half earlier today.
He claims I have sooo many cookbooks. I say it's "only" 5.
In his defense I mostly use the 2 I bought shortly after we first got married close to 15 years ago. But I still enjoyed the other 3 quiet a bit too.

I recently saw one I'd really like to try hence the reason for that conversation.

I thought he was ridiculous for thinking 5 is a lot. He thought I was ridiculous for thinking 5 is little.
Either way I ordered it and am excited to try it.

We rarely buy ready or eat out and unless I'm sick or something, almost all meals at prepared by yours truly.

So we came to the conclusion that I'll ask imamother.
Let's see who's right. Common ladies, spill it.

You're not ridiculous at all! Five is nothing! I have many more... A good cookbook can do wonders for your inspiration in the kitchen. And you need a new one every now and then to get that inspiration! Enjoy your new cookbook.

I have two (married just over a year). Just bought another one today that I've wanted for a while. As much as I get plenty recipes online, there's something about a recipe book from someone who's cooking style you know and trust.

Got married with two that I still love and use. Got gifted one from my workplace that gets tons of use. DH bought me two for Chanuka, two different years lol, and though there are some good recipes there I hardly use them. I would give them away if not for the fact that they were gifts from DH Smile There's still one out there that I would love to get my hands on.

I guessed 16-20 but I may have more. We have a bookshelf in our living room dedicated to cookbooks, and the ones I use most frequently are in my kitchen.

My husband enjoys looking through them almost as much as I do. Everyone knows that I like cookbooks as hostess gifts.

I would buy every popular cookbook I could if I had the shelf-space.

Thanks everyone for the confirmation.

Truth be told, were both ridiculous sometimes. Bh for that or we'd be embarrassed of each other. Lol.

The book I ordered is texture over taste by Joshua weissman.
One of my kids is a very picky/sensory eater whos challange is textures rather than taste. Somehow junkfood is always the right texture.... LOL

She'll hype herself up to eat a yellow pepper or Kirby. And she'll tolerate it now.... The other 4 bh INHALE them and she feels left out...

In general she will gag from some textures and it can be the same food one day it came out the right texture the other not.
I'm hoping it'll give me some insight. I'll keep you posted if you can remind me to....

Three on the bookshelf to read for fun and one workhorse notebook in a kitchen cabinet for taping or copying recipes gleaned from here and there. Nowadays I search for recipes mainly online.

Me too. And the truth is that the majority of them haven't been touched in years. I think it's time to free up some space.

Cookbooks are the most practical type of book. Even if you use just a few recipes, think of how many meals that is in the long run! I honestly think that if you had 50, that'd be fine, because you are putting those books to good use all your life.

. Obviously storage space is not an issue for you. If it were, your attitude would be "I have 50 cookbooks occupying four and a half or more linear feet of shelf space, and I use five recipes from each. That's 250 recipes. I can copy those recipes into a single blank book or binder that will occupy two inches or less of shelf space, get rid of the books, and have four or more feet of free space for more important things."
