To those of you who had a problem with the punishment: In principle you are correct. However IMHO there is a still a concept of having some seichel and common sense.

Your view is your are out if the box and it doesn't bother you and that's fine. A teacher will see it differently if half of the class come with henna tattoos the next morning. It as now a fashion and another fad that school has to deal with. They don't want to add another issue to their list. I'm sure they didn't even consider temporary tattoos when the rules were created but *trusted* parents to use their common sense.
You didn't think too much at the moment (we are all human) but now you are upset at the school?
They should have let her come with a bandage.

It's not about Halacha and henna. A temporary tattoo is still an adornment that isn't acceptable in certain settings. To me when I see a henna body painting or a tattoo it's the same thing (obviously one is *Halachically permitted*)
And no, it has nothing to do with Halla or Nidda in any way!

Just want to say that the Sephardi Henna's do have connection to Challah, Nidda, and Hadlakas haner. It's not something they took from the non jews.

A Cheenah ceremony for a Kallah is vastly different than a henna temporary tattoo from a fair.
Yes the Chet stands for Challah, the Niddah (Taharas HaMishpacha) for and thee Hey for hadlakas Haner. The 3 mitzvos that are for women.
But this has nothing to do with what OPs daughter did.
