We open shades not windows.
There are very few weeks a year that I'm comfortable without AC or heat.
Maybe my parents spoiled me, but now I have an achrayus to myself to be a good mother and I'm not a good mother if I'm uncomfortable. So thank you Hashem for AC and heat!!

We have window gates as well as screens, as do most of the buildings in my neighborhood. The screens were installed with the windows, but if you don't have them, every hardware store has adjustable portable screens that fit any double -hung window. Casement windows (that open on hinges like a door or an old-style mailbox) are a different story..
