I know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but can someone explain the value of hogging posts? So now I know that somebody somewhere disagree with some part of a post. Don’t you huggers think that replying with a post stating the exact nature of disagreement will bring your point across more smoothly?

I don't hug posts that I disagree with I'll only hug if someone is being passive aggressive or nasty. Which maybe makes me passive aggressive 🙈

I ignore it. I’m just wondering about the effectiveness of sending a hug into cyberspace.

You're right, of course. But verbal debate is for intelligent, articulate people.
(And of course there are those few who use the hug as it was originally intended, as an expression of sympathy, support or appreciation. It's the hug abusers who ruined it for everyone else.)

By “hugging”, do you mean tapping the heart emoji at the end of each post?
If yes, it probably includes old ladies like me who actually mean to send a genuine hug and don’t understand the nuances of it being sarcastic or negative. We’re the same people who can’t understand how “sick” Is used nowadays;)

I also give genuine hugs. But I worry that they may be misunderstood as passive aggressive- Which is a shame.
A hug should automatically be seen as a sign of love/comfort.
