Advice needed: fleishige morning bris

How can I make it nice yet not spend a lot? Looking for menu ideas and decoration ideas.

For food I was thinking:

bilkelach
deli
potato kugel
sweet lukshen kugel
pickles
olives
veggie sticks or Israeli salad
hummus
eggplant salatim
pastries
OJ
water
coffee/tea

What do you think? HOnestly it sounds nauseating to eat any of that at 8:30 a.m., but it's a seudas mitzvah, and it's not like I'll be eating anyway, I'll be babysitting all of DH's high-maintenance family and trying to keep them from killing each other. Rolling Eyes

Maybe make some fish for people who want to participate in the seudas mitzvah but can't stomach fleishigs so early in the morning. (Like me! Ick.) Also, a fruit platter would be good.

Sounds like a bit much fleishigs wise so early.

What about adding tuna and egg salad?

And I think the fruit platter sounds like a good idea.

I don't think you need the kugels.

I would think of it as a parve meal with the deli there for those who need to have fleishigs.

I think one kugel is enough, but it's not overdone even with two. You're providing enough for the people who don't want to eat fleishigs, if you add tuna salad or gefilte fish.

Sounds fine to me. We "usually" just do the standard fleishig fare - A quarter chicken, rice, veggies etc.
I was at a morning bris once with deli and salads and it was great! People were wolfing sandwiches down!

What is wrong with all those salatim, but without the meat? You can throw together a few dairy kugels, burekas, rolls, tuna, egg salad with coffee and cakes. Why meat so early in the am?

For DS1's 8am morning bris, we did deli platters, and borekas with a few fillings, with little challahs and 2 salads. Honestly, at that time of morning, most people dont eat a lot, so those who want meat eat deli, and the rest have some borekas and salad.

Tamiri, many people hold that a seudas mitzvah has to have meat.

At our second bris, we had lekach at the bris itself and a fleishig seuda at lunchtime. We came to that idea after at our first bris, people hardly ate.

We hold that way but I know various Yeshivish people, who on their rabbi's ok, had fish (tuna, actually) and bagels.

Oh yeah, good idea! I knew I was forgetting something. Although I think I'll skip the fruit platter because I learned from my last bris (which was milchigs because it fell out during the 9 Days) that cutting your own fruit the night before is stressful, esp. with hordes of family descending on you that night expecting to be entertained.

That's what we learned the first time around. We had tons of leftover food. This time I'm going to buy much less.

One more question: what type of deli meats would you buy?

Cheap ones. Haha.
Turkey, salami etc. Beef is super expensive.
