This is literally a first world problem but deal with me guys!
I love ice cubes in my drinks and ideally would buy a nougat ice machine if I would have the space.
Whenever I put ice cube trays in my freezer, they are unedible.
I have extreme taste buds and the silicone trays absorb taste from the freezer.
With sink water (that I don't drink cuz hate NYC water) it's horrible.
Even when I use bottled water it still gets a taste from the freezer or the tray.
Does anybody else have such strong taste buds and have an ice cube solution?

Have you tried boiling the water first then freezing it right away?

Buy ice for yourself and keep it bagged well.

I'm dealing with this also lol. The hard plastic trays don't impart taste usually. It's harder to get the cubes put tho.

If the freezer is clean and fresh, the ice cubes should taste good. Maybe try to empty it more often, I wonder if it will help.

Use them up quickly, don't store them for long. Or wrap them up hermetically once they are frozen. I find that everything, literally everything, that gets exposed to the freezer air for more than a day, acquires "freezer taste". And our freezer is clean. Still.

You can make ice cubes in little plastic bags specially made for that, in different shapes. they are not silicone so probably they will not leave a taste of silicone.
Here is an example:

Definitely bought ice is the best.
Boiling water will if anything make it taste worse, the pure water evaporates leaving you with the a worse taste.
Best water is filtered with reverse osmosis

Thanks all for the suggestions!
I think the issue is a combination of the freezer taste, even though it's relatively clean and I have baking soda for odors
And the silicone trays that absorb any bad taste.
I will try out the disposable bags and will note any other tips, thanks!

OP I’m with you. Literally nothing worked for me until I invested in the GE profile ice maker. I don’t know how I survived this long without it! LIFE CHANGING (overstatement but you get it)

We started buying bags of ice and love it! And we drink so much more water now because the ice makes it taste even more refreshing

We buy them in the grocery store close to our house. Two big bags last about a week (family of 7). I think they're $2 each.
You need to buy them and run home, because if they start melting the cubes get all stuck to each other
