When I lived in Israel and didn’t speak fluent Hebrew or have credentials (about 20 years ago) I worked some of the following jobs : gan teacher 35 nis an hour, sayat or assistant 28 nis an hour, remote paralegal $8 an hour, remote customer service 25 nis an hour, medical secretary ( started around 27 nis an hour and moved up as I learned and got experience ), cleaning 50 nis an hour, nannying 22 nis an hour etc.
$25 in Israel an hour is a very big (and unrealistic salary) unless you get very lucky. Most American companies who offer remote jobs aren’t doing it out of the goodness of the heart, but rather to save $ because Israeli costs of living and salaries are so much less.

You clearly did not read the full situation and I would appreciate for the future if you don’t give advice on subjects you don’t know such as alternative medicine field.

OP I'm taking up the arms for Elfrida. I don't know her personally just from this site. She is a medical professional whose advice is practical and always spot on.
You have been extremely rude to her for no reason on earth apart from not getting the answer you wanted.
I'm not into reporting posts. I'm not reporting this one. I came back on to give you some job options but I cannot possibly recommend anyone who is as rude as this for any job under the sun.

1. You owe her an apology.
2. You need to work on your attitude.

I wonder if part of the reason your job search is not going easily is because instead of being grateful to the employer for offering you a job, you come over as doing them a favor for taking it?

Ulpan is only the beginning. It gives you a foundation. Then you have to go out there and speak Hebrew and make mistakes and look stupid and gradually internalise it all. We've all been there. It takes time to become really fluent, and you're never going to get there without practice.

Yup. Ulpan didn't teach me anything, I only learned Hebrew from being thrown into Hebrew environments. Listening to the radio, reading stuff, speaking to people in Hebrew etc.

I am assuming your husband is in mivchar or a different religious college as I know that's the schedule because that's my husband's schedule.

I work part time, husband is in school and we don't get a cent of support, never did. We bought our own furniture and everything when we got married, no one offered to pay for anything. Maybe we can afford a down payment in 10 years, maybe. Who knows. We bring in about 8k a month and we are Baruch Hashem not struggling or in debt and we are frugal.

You are incredibly lucky and entitled, you are living a dream to be supported for both of you in school and a down payment. That's the stuff of my dreams.

Can I be adopted?

Thank you for the wonderful championship.

Continuing arguments doesn't really get anywhere, and certainly doesn't do anything to improve the atmosphere on the board, so we can leave things as they are for now.

OK, I've been holding myself back from commenting on this thread but... here goes.

There's nothing wrong with being unrealistic in life, even if your wish list includes living in the most expensive neighborhood in Jerusalem, making a normal US income, and living on a higher standard than most Israeli's.

You should never feel bad about yourself for having grown up in the US and being used to spending money easily and as long as you know what you want and are willing to work hard there should be no reason in the world why you aren't able to achieve it.

There are many who do, even without parental support, though parental support can many times be an unhealthy crutch to lean on.

Sincere Tefillah, serious grit and self-determination and the strong desire to live in Eretz Hakodesh can turn your dreams into a reality.

To Hashem, nothing is impossible.

Ok, just to update you, things have changed.

Nowadays as many offices in the US are paying employees $30-$40/hr, they are more than happy to hire a remote employee in Israel for $20-$25. Yes, the hours are US hours, but there are better jobs to be had these days

I’m a young married living in Israel supported by parents. Me and my husband are both in school, and hoping to get part time jobs. The market here is so tough, either you need crazy experience or you get paid $8 an hr. I don’t understand how anyone gets started here or pays their bills. I was hoping at this point in my life I would have some flow of money but instead I have a drain of savings.
I always wanted to live in a house with a backyard my kids could run around in. I am now coming to the realization that I might just be poor and in debt living in a small rented apartment my whole life. I’m davening for an opportunity but it just feels like there are none. I feel like everyone is so poor here.

For the Isrealis.... what does a house w a backyard cost in different areas of Israel?

OP, take heart. You are students. Your cashflow will look very different thwn someone with a degree and experience. But it does not happen overnight.

Op, I dont know much about isreal or natural stuff, but I do know some thkngs are universal

You are in an amazing position because with your support you can AFFORD to take a poorly paid job for a foot in the door. In many industries (not sure if yours is one or not) this is a huge advantage and really only people from well off famalies can make it becsuse they can afford to take the unpaid internship or low wage gopher job getting coffee. But it gives them connections and some insight.

I highly encourage the same for you. You and dh should reach out to successfully professionals in your industry and ask what steps you can take today.

For example (and im making these options up because I dont know your job in the slightest- just read for the concept), even if you will be working remote "in the US" you still need a reputation and the frum world is incredibly connected. What can you do to get yourself known as a person? Could you work as an assistant in a popular w anglos gan and make sure to get to know the parents and ganenets so they can be references? Can you work in a health food store, even just behind the counter? A more natural minded dr office as a reveptionist?
Again, I have no idea, im trying to inspire you and get the wheels in your head turning.

These jobs will also help you improve your Hebrew, which will give your career more options. I woukd caution you about not tryi g harder to be successful in your home country.

For inspiration.
My niece is an engineer in israel and worked in a drs office during her first year of school. Was paid peanuts but it forced her to become fluent in hebrew. First industry job was as an isreali contractor for a blue chip usa company - again paid peanuts, but got experience and could put a brand name on her resume. Eventually she worked in house for the isreali branch of that company for some bigger peanuts, and now 7 years later has a well paying remote American job.

Being financially supported can be a ladder or a crutch.

You can use it to climb above the fray because you can take risks or low paying/no paying jobs that others cant who.need to feed themselves.

Or it can be a crutch, where almost no job is "worth it", because the little it pays and the frustration it causes wont change your life as you have support.

Ive seen people take both paths. Your choice.

Im not looking, trying to contextualize the ops dream for myself. Was looking for high level.

I didnt even know you could get a house w a yard for 500k nis anywhere in israel! (I didnt even think you could get an apartment).
So this is an attainable dream for op.

But im assuming this includes living in yehupitz.
