My mil is constantly buying the kids presents. And not even good stuff, but junk. We already told her to stop giving them a gift everytime she saw them, which was pretty often, at least once a week. Today we went to her house and she bought them shoes. My daughter, a pair of shabbos shoes. I told her that she's not getting another pair until she outgrows or ruins the ones she has now because I keep getting her new ones when she doesn't really need it. For the other kids, she got them boots, short boots. I hate boots on kids. I would never buy them, because I don't like putting it on them. She bought the baby shoes and was wondering and getting upset when we told her that we don't know if they'll fit him when he walks. He's only 9 months and my other kids didn't start walking until they were 12 months or later.

If you can figure out who this is, oh well!

Hi DIL,
sorry you don't appreciate my gifts. I get joy out of giving! It's for the child, not for you...

rather than tell her you don't like her gifts, try to tell her what you could use. the baby could use some onesies in size x, we need some new baby towels, etc. or ask her to keep the stuff at her house for when the kids visit. you never know when they may need extra clothing, shoes, etc when not at home.

I'm not talking about candy or toys, which she constantly does and I can't stand, but that's another story. I'm talking about things that I don't want them to have for whatever reason. With the boots, I don't think it's good for the feet and with my daughters shoes, I don't want her to be spoiled that she has to get shoes all time. She's only 10. I was going to be very strict this time.

What if I just bought them shoes and then she says, here look what I got for them?! I'm not saying that's what happened, I'm just giving an example.

For immediate reaction to thread title, * tr**d *t w*th th* v*w*ls, b*t *t d*dn't f*t. LOL
