My kids are grown, and only one has ever broken a bone. He was running on the grass and tripped and broke his arm. We owned a trampoline for a year when they were around 5-10 years old, then moved away.

1 kid broke his arm twice from blocking a ball playing sports.

1 broke his toe kicking a ball and 1 broke his toe going down a slide and landing toes first.

One kid tripped over a bike, fell and broke his arm.
One DS broke a wrist skiing.
I broke my toe when I opened my refrigerator and a glass bottle of sparkling grape juice fell on it.
Go figure.

Healthy Active children

7yo broken arm- in playground

2yo Broken arm-in playground

2 yo Broken wrist-falling off a metal gate, he was standing on the bottom ledge-4 inches off the ground

2 yo Broken leg-jumping on couch

2 yo Broken arm-fell off a bunk bed

10 yo Broken elbow-outdoor trampoline -same age kids, was pushed by another jumper

3 yo Broken leg-outdoor trampoline- big kid knocked child out of the way

3yo broker foot while going down slide on Dads lap.
Same child badly broke foot again from fall down stairs.

All of the above, or at least almost all of the above. The only correlation I've noted in my personal anecdotal experience is that the kid with the highest activity level gets the most injuries.

My parents didn’t let us have a trampoline for this reason but I don’t think I know anyone who was severely injured from one. I do feel like basketball has caused a lot of injuries among friends and families- but I don't think they regret playing

I have a friend who is still suffering from her trampoline injury 20 years ago and I broke my nose on a trampoline

We have a large trampoline in my backyard for 4 years bh and never had any issues..
It does have a safety mesh and anchored into my yard)

I had a 7 yr old brake the hand from falling off a zipline in a playground, and a 9 yr brake her thumb from roller blading. These 2 stories happened a week apart..

No. She was herself and I was standing and watching her . The orthopedist said it was a very common injury . This happened 16 yrs ago when I didn’t know much about trampolines being a source of injury .

We have a huge backyard and for years I've been wanting to get a trampoline. My husband is wary because "everyone" says not too.
Every time I was about to buy one different people coincidentally shared their trampoline injury experience. So it got pushed off, yet again.
Meanwhile my boys have had 3 electric scooter accidents (the scooters have been retired). Go figure.
I think I'm just gonna get a trampoline this summer once and for all.

I was considering the jumpzylla one. I want to spend under $400.

Anyone have any good recommendations?

I have heard that trampolines can account for more serious injuries (ie spinal cord injuries). That doesn't mean more injuries happen on a trampoline vs bikes, rollerblades, etc but more severe injuries on the trampoline. There is a reason why trampoline parks literally have you sign your life away before playing. That said, I would have to guess that the serious injuries occur during flips, cartwheels, etc and not just regular jumping.

One kid broke tibial spine jumping in a friend’s trampoline w a basketball hoop attached- landed on the basketball that was inside the mesh. Required major surgery and months of PT. BH Bah no other broken bones in my kids. But DH would never allow electric scooters or skateboards.

We have a trampoline for 8 years and BH no issues.
Had one kid in a cast from monkey bars...

Just jumping up and down is pretty safe. At worst, a broken bone.

I have trampoline paranoia.
Bh nothing had happened to my kids but I don’t let them go on until they are much older.
My daughter needed spine surgery not related to trampoline and the surgeon is world renowned and he told me that if it was up to him he would ban trampolines.

I grew up with a big trampoline in our yard and no one broke anything BH. My parents were always careful that the gate shouldn’t be torn etc. my siblings and I are pretty tame but my wilder cousins did midair somersaults and backflips and they turned out ok too.

My child had an adult tooth knocked out on a trampoline by kids crashing into each other.
