I am so frustrated. Any time I do laundry it comes out smelling nice...for about 2 days. But when I send out to the laudromat, it comes back smelling delicious and it lasts for so long! Any ideas?

I think I figured this out recently. For some reason, adding fabric softener to each load leaves the laundry smelling amazing for a long while. I don’t think fabric softener does anything different to my clothing other than make them smell great. My teens have been telling me that they love my new “detergent” and that their clothing smells “heaven”.

I tried a trick that an appliance man told me.. he said you shouldn’t use fabric softener every load as it ruins the machines. He said to hang dry clothes and let it air dry by the sun.. it works every time..

Fresh, clean laundry has no scent. You want your laundry smelling like cologne.

I don’t use fabric softener and my laundry smells great.
(Unless I forget and load stays overnight in the machine…)
I do add vinegar to most of my loads though

How does that work?

White vinegar?

Do you use plain detergent and just vinegar?

How about oxy clean?

Dumb question. Do you also use dryer sheets?

Vinegar eliminates odors.
Fabric softener tends to have a light/medium lingering scent, depending on brand.
Laundry beads like unstoppable have the longest lasting scent. My neighbor uses these, and I can smell if their child was in my house.
