Hi
My little one got 2 days ago a few pimples/bumps on her face, the next day they multiplied.
Today I found another one on her back.
She complains they are itchy.
Buy otherwise, she's totally fine.
No fever, full on appetite, tons of energy.
She's fully vaccinated for chicken pox, but what else could be causing a spread of those bumps?
Are they contagious? I'd really prefer not to spend now hours at the pedriatrician's waiting room...

I know people who had chicken pox even if vaccinated. It's a live vaccine so it can come out as chicken pox or lie dormant till shingles can come out

yes my son has chicken pox even after being vaccinated when he was exposed to shingles. it’s possible he was still young enough that he didn’t get the last booster or wtvr but he was def vaccinated. I believe he was 2 at the time.

Yes! My son had this a few years ago. Chicken pox was going around in his class. Dr claimed he's not contagious because he's vaccinated. Well, 2 of my other kids got it shortly thereafter. Sooo, I would tell to try to be careful with your other kids.

I actually got chicken pox twice (pre vaccine era). But I wouldn’t just assume chicken pox, rashes can mean lots of things, including strep…

Yep, my kids were exposed to it last year.
Besides for my baby they were all vaccinated.
A few kids had actual chicken pox, others were a bit unwell for a few days but no pox. Of the ones who had it, the longer it had been since their immunisation the worse they had it.

Are you in monsey? I heard of a few cases here recently. And if it’s chicken pox yes it’s highly contagious.

Chicken pox usually start on the trunk and are white/clear with a red ring around, like "dew drops on a rose petal"
Rashes can be so many things

Unfortunately vaccines aren't always effective. Nobody will tell you that. the most you'll get is it was more "mild" than it would have been if not for the vaccine (because we know what would have happened) but yes the vaccine is not always effective

I know many people who got chicken pox multiple times. And they were not vaccinated for chicken pox.
I had it at least twice. A friend of mine had it 3x. Some people just don't get immunity.
I had my titers taken and I am immune now.
I was told if the first case wasn't "large enough" or if you were under 6 months when you got it, likely it wasn't enough to grant you immunity for life.
So natural immunity isn't foolproof either.
And for the OP: could it be Hand foot mouth or measles?

If I'm not mistaken, hand, foot, and mouth is usually painful not itchy.

It could be chicken pox or it could be something else. Best to get it checked so you know what it is and who it is contagious to. For example, if it is chickenpox, you may need to stay away from pregnant women. Or if it is something that doesn't have a vaccine, you may not want ro be around lots of other relatives who could catch it.

UPDATE
I went to the doctor, and it's a virus related to the hand-foot-mouth virus.
It's contagious, but not too bad....
I can put some bendaryl/fenistil cream on it, if it gets to itchy.
Thank you everybody

This seems to be going around now. My son picked it up from daycare just a few days ago.
FYI two kids had chicken pox 6 weeks after getting the vaccine. Thankfully it was a real mild case.
