Yup!
My entire building was literally shaking, I was able to see actual movement.
I was envisioning all the Taiwan videos I just saw in the news yesterday.

OMG I thought something was wrong with my house and it was falling apart! I grabbed my baby and went outside.

How will they keep kids in school safe if this happens again? There are no drills for this.

Of course there are drills for just we don't live in an earthquake area so we don't ever practice them.
Anyone out there from California who can help us out know what to do?

Is There a Blessing or Jewish Prayer For Earthquakes?
By Menachem Posner
The Talmud (Berachot 54a) tells us that whoever witnesses an earthquake —as well as a number of other natural phenomena in which G‑d's awesome power is apparent —should immediately say either one of the following two blessings:
Baruch Atta Ado-noy Elo-hai-nu Melech ha'olam
osei ma'asei vereisheet.
translation: Blessed are You, L‑rd our G‑d, King of the universe, who reenacts the works of creation.
Baruch Atta Ado-noy Elo-hai-nu Melech ha'olam shekocho ugevurato malei olam.
translation: Blessed are You, L‑rd our G‑d, King of the universe, whose power and might fill the world.
This helps bring into focus how the forces of nature are all truly from G‑d and expressions of His majesty.

That's what I meant. Where I live there are no drills for this because it never happens here.
I feel so unstable right now

I understand it is extremely scary. I was a bit at first I thought it was the wind cuz I'm on the second floor of the house but then my mother started shouting so I knew it wasn't
I just think that you know take a minute, take a breath and look up what to do. I do know that a doorway is one of the safer places to be in the event of a major quake.

A quick Google search tells me about earthquakes and eclipses when it's a full or brand new moon.
But we know it's none of those. Rosh Chodesh is this week and we're at the very end stages of this moon

Technically it was in NJ ,(west of N. Plainfield) they just decided to rattle us.
A few years ago there was one mid afternoon but not as bad.

In theory: leave any building you are in.
The people form in a line along the middle of the street, to be as far as possible from buildings. That's assuming traffic isn't moving.
Then, sit on the ground, so you can't fall down.
You want to be out in the open air.
That said, it can be fine to do nothing.
Sometimes what you do is worse than the problem.

My brother said that the gemara brings that before an eclipse, there's a chance of an earthquake. Something about the earth getting "stressed" by the moon.
