Pride and Prejudice is an excellent novel (since you mentioned Regency novels).

Classic novels tend to be clean and well-written.

If I'm remembering correctly, I'm glad my mom died was not clean.

Yes, it is a memoir by Frank Mc Court. It's his childhood or his mother's life.

I shot daddy is also a fantastic book but it's got graphic descriptions on s-xual abuse she underwent.

I really enjoy books written by foster carers detailing their foster children's stories. Usually no graphic details. I've enjoyed Maggie Hartley, Cathy glass, Casey Watson and Angela hart.

Yep, I recommended the other book Stones from the River which isnt a memoir. I think you misread my post. Its a great book

The author was Jewish, some of the characters are, but most of the characters are not.

Some background/description from a Guardian review:

I dont know if you are still looking but Sarah M Eden does Regency era Romance books as well as other eras. She has a few series and I think they’d be considered clean by all standards.

I liked Lisa Genova books. She writes fictional novels based on neurological diseases (like Alzheimer’s, Huntingtons…) I think she does a great job with the characters and pulling you in.

Read book reviews

You can look at books that are recommended monthly by Jenna Bush (Dubya's daughter) and Reece Witherspoon as they both recommend very well written literary fiction.

You can google synopsis on amazon and if it appeals to you, then give it a try. Amazon also does a best book of the month in various genres - Literary Fiction, Romance, Mystery thrillers as well as History and Non Fiction.

I keep a list of books that I want to read as I come across recommended books.
