Another vote for Maeve Binchy
It’s not so easy to find clean books…

Try Anita Shreve’s books. Light on Snow was a good one.

Do you like middle grade or kids novels, or only adult? Easier to find clean ones in the kids section.

Two more authors for you.
Anna Quindlen’s books are great. Blessings is one I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
John Grisham writes courtroom dramas. Very entertaining and they’re clean. In case courtroom dramas aren’t your type, he wrote one book that’s different from the others. It’s called A Painted House. It’s a coming of age story about a boy growing up poor on a farm in Arkansas. Read it. The characters are so real you feel like you’re right there with them.

If you like regency romances, Georgette Heyer has a lot of fun, well written books.
I’d go with some classics like Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Second this very enthusiastically.
Also what about Danielle Steele? I find some of her books boring but she’s clean and very prolific.

Agree with PP re Jane Austen - very hard to beat for romance. I also think George Elliott (a woman) is a truly wonderful writer you might enjoy.

Here a few books I read recently that are clean:
Jojo Moyes - Someone Else's Shoes (her books are clean, light romance)
Alice Hoffman - Invisible Hour (read two of her books and both were clean)
Sarah Addison Allen - Other Birds

My 3rd grader reads these books. Why would An adult (want to) read childrens books?

I don't know if you've read these yet, they're children's books but I read them plenty as an adult:
Little Women and others by Louisa May Alcott
All LM Montgomery books, especially Anne of Green Gables
A Little Princess and The Secret Garden by Francis Burnette
Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
Pollyanna
Heidi
Caddie Woodlawn
Cherry Ames
Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Fin
As others said, Georgette Heyer for clean romance
Also, I know you said you don't like murder mysteries, but Agatha Christie is exceptional.
Also, there is a site that reviews all sorts of books, but especially romance, and you can filter by sensuality level and also by type. There are tons of choices for cleaner books, I use the site a lot.

The books I recommended were all books I read as an adult. Sorry if I'm not as intellectual as you (I read way above my age level in general, as an FYI). Those books are just so good.

Agree! I grew up chassidish as well and we had most of the children’s books mentioned, at home.
Off topic, but can you or anyone explain why ‘Where the crawdads sing’ is among your favorite books? I thought it was rather unrealistic and it gave me the creeps.

Because they're clean.
Adding James Herriot and Erma Bombeck, which are NOT childrens books.
