Remember when you apply and when you speak to the school admin, that it's not their efforts that will get you into the school, it's all from Hashem. And if they don't accept you it's for the best and Hashem has another plan for you. But don't give them the power that it's their deciding factor, the one that makes the decision is Hashem and they are merely the messengers.

Doesn't this interfere with the idea of "free will"

It's a waste to apply you have to go to someone who has pull the only way today. Sad but true.

I third this. Bitachon, Tefillah, our biggest Segulahs. I signed up to Daily bitachon and it's a life changing way to live. So glad to see it was already recommended here by 2 posters before me. I believe and know Hashem is placing my daughter in an amazing high school Iy"H. I will daven for all of you. Let's daven for one another. OP may you and everyone else who needs a place for their kids be blessed with Hatzlocha Rabbah bkorov Bez"H.

Sorry, I don't know of one. And I am so sad to hear that this is even something needed for a 5 year old. What criteria could possibly be needed to go to kindergarten? Every jewish child should have a great school to attend with no stress and drama involved in the application and enrollment process. How embarrassing for our communities that someone should have to ask this question.

Unfortunately this is so not the case anymore. We had an emergency situation that was very understandable and had to move after the school year started. We had to beg and plead on our hands and knees to get a child into a school. Not even our preferred school!

We are moving in June and the first thing I did was make sure all the kids had a space in our preferred schools for next year. I could not breathe until they were officially accepted and we paid the deposit lol. OP I'm really sorry you're going through this. It's so hard!!!!

Because the entire Brooklyn moved to Lakewood except the Syrians and chassidim (although plenty of those did too)

I assume she meant the schools in Flatbush, not Boro Park.
I heard firsthand from a dean of a school in Flatbush that any school in Flatbush (ashkenaz not sefard) that tells you they don't have room is lying (maybe with the exception of 1 or 2 really small schools)
