Can I sue, and how would I even go about it?

My homeowners insurance went onto my private property (through my gate) and photographed the back of my home without requesting access or notifying me beforehand. Behind my property is a private gated road, so they definitely didn't access it through there.
Wondering if I have a case against them, and who would be willing to give me legal advice on this? In Lakewood.
ETA - this was not as a result of a claim or anything I did to warrant it. I've been with the company for several years without a claim.

When I read sue I assumed you got really hurt cv. Sue because someone took pictures of your house? You have so much extra time in your life?

What damages, hardship, or emotional duress has this caused you?
How is this something you want to sue over?
Is this a joke?

Do you mean press charges for trespassing?

You can try to press charges for trespassing, though do you have security cameras to prove they went on the property?

Anyone can theoretically file a civil suit for anything. But Im not sure what case you'd have, unless this cost you damages of any sort (monetary, emotional, physical, etc)

Did they increase your insurance cost because of it?

Also I would double check your policy documents and confirm there is no wording in there that allows them to check the exterior of the property without your prior consent

If the gate was unlocked maybe they assumed they could go through? Our gas company comes every month to check the meter and they just go through our back gate to our backyard without asking. It’s assumed here, I live in the Toms River area btw. They’re not touching my property or taking anything, so not stealing or anything like that.

Maybe you signed something at some point that says they are allowed to do that. It might be in the policy that they can.

I dont think you have legal grounds to sue.

You can press trespassing charges but I doubt the police will do anything.
