Where in Brooklyn are you located? There are reliable places in BP, Flatbush, and CH. DH bought his many years ago, and I remember that there was a huge variety in pricing depending on the quality of the writing, the size, and other factors. With inflation, I would expect a cheap kosher one to start at about $1000, but really nice ones could easily cost several thousand.

Just got one in Lakewood and it was about $3000. It’s a nice one, you can probably get cheaper, like $2000.

When my fil bought one for my husband about 10 years ago it was around $2500

Doctorima, why do you assume OP is in Brooklyn? The forum is NEW YORK related inquiries. Last time I checked, New York City consisted of five boros, with Brooklyn not necessarily being the most conveniently located. If OP had meant Brooklyn, she would have posted "Where in Brooklyn can I buy..."
