My son had a very hard time with the sitting so we bought a cheap imitation "Gameboy" from Amazon and he can ONLY use it when he sits. If that's not motivating for your son you need to find something that is (reading a book, listening to a CD, subscription to the Loop, etc.) so the sitting will not be so aversive to him.
I also found that using the positive helped a lot (e.g., "You can have this Gameboy as soon as you're on the toilet. I can't wait to see how it works!" versus "You can't have this unless you're on the toilet.") |
I’ve tried everything sadly. Been at this for 3 years… it’s so hard I wish he would just do what he has to to make it better but he’s so strong willed

Just treat. My kids don't wake up at all.
If it's really bad you can see it on the poop and often on their bottom immediately after going (it goes back in)
If you treat with herbal you'll see a LOT of them come out with #2 within a day or two (Meds paralyze them so you won't necessarily see it.)
sorry tmi!
Also at this for 3-4 years my son is 6. Keeps getting reinfected.

You mean no dairy and no gluten?
Has anyone stopped those and found enco stopped? | It means addressing the many different factors that are going on here. It's not just going to be 1 thing.

And your kids are backed up with poop when they have parasites?

Could he have it for 3 years with never having itching?
He wakes up multiple times a night but that’s the only indication of this.

I don’t think it’s pinworms in my sons case because he’s had this for over 3 years and no itching at all and we’ve never treated him for it

Yes if untreated it usually stays.
Some are more susceptible. Also how do you know for sure other kids (or adults for that matter) dont have it? Not everybody has symptoms.
I can't tell you if it definitely is though!

I agree with you that its probably not pinworms. How old is your son? My GI and I both agree that with my daughter at this point its behavioral and I am literally just waiting for her to start caring and then I will insist she sit on toliet at set times etc. BH though the ezlax is preventing backup and I can live with a little poop on her underwear twice a week.

My kids don't itch. They don't even wake up!
Still, I've seen the worms with my own eyes!

Reese’s, or Paraguard from zahler's, or both
(Reese’s requires only 2 doses. Doesn't hurt to try. If you see that's it you might want tomgive more to make sure it's all gone)

He is 6. It’s not poop in underwear twice a week it’s huge accidents and pee leaking. But it’s only after 3 months of being fine after a clean out

If he takes meds he goes Every day but isn’t fully emptying. He’s on 4 exlax and mag citrate daily. |
That must be tough!
I really think you should give treating for pinworms a shot. Reese’s is just 2 doses of 1 tsp each. Once on day one and again 10-14 days later.
Even if that likely won't be the end of it because these kids tend to get reinfected easily, at least you'll know why it happens and avoid the hospital clean out.
You also said your daughter wakes up and has #1 accidents so she's possibly also infected. Is she the one right after your 6 yo ds? Do you have more toilet trained kids or only these 2?
Shabbos was rosh chodesh. That's often a time in which pinworm symptoms worsen. Did you see any worsening since thu/fri?

I really don’t see how it could be pinworms that was not detected for 3 years and he hates meds so I don’t want to force him to take something unless I am absolutely sure
I don’t have another kid with this issue. Maybe that was a different poster.
No, no worsening since Thursday.

No, no worsening since Thursday. | Parasites can go undetected for years
