Hi,
My son is looking to switch mesivtas in shiur gimmel. He wants to be on the east coast. He is a good learner and not chutzpadik at all. The few places we applied aren't accepting new students for shiur gimmel. I appreciate any leads! thanks

Few points:
- are there friends he wants to go with?
- where does he see himself the year after? Often a mesivta flows into a specific zal although not always.
East coast means New Haven, Connecticut, Monsey, Pomona, local CH yeshivas, Baltimore, Coral Springs (is that too far?) Did I miss any?

For next year?
What kind of environment/style is he looking for? Would you feel comfortable sharing what yeshiva or what type of yeshiva he's been in until now?

I don't think this assertion is accurate but I agree it's a helpful question

That's why I said often.
It's no surprise when boys from a certain mesivta continue on to a specific zal

Thanks for that clarification!
I would agree that often it isn't a surprise

Thank you for the questions and thoughts. He is looking for a chasidish mesivta, he is a pretty serious student but he definitely has a playful side. He is currently in a very small mesivta with a very small hanhola and he is hoping for something a bit bigger with some diversity in the hanhola.

He doesn't have friends coming with him as of now but he generally has an easy time making friends. He is leaning toward Morristown for yeshiva gadola.

If anyone knows any other bochrim looking to switch for shiur gimmel next year, Baltimore said they are ready to make a shiur gimmel and have the staff and infrastructure if they have the bochrim.

Did you try Suffield, or Pomona?

The hanholo is very small and unfortunately, several of the bochrim, including my son, find one of the members challenging and since he their primary Rabbi, my son is hoping for a year with some different influences/styles/opinions.

I am looking into Suffield. Haven't heard back yet. I don't think Pomona is taking shiur gimmel.
