Well here we are. my school I work for just cut my over half my hours. Not only that I got a letter from my landlord asking to vacate. No clue how I’m going to afford a new apt in Brooklyn being that the prices are crazy. And bh my beautiful children are outgrowing their socks and shoes and are asking for more. please send all your tips for money saving. School supplies and household items are mostly bought from the dollar store. Clothing are bought from primark and food is bought from a discount grocery store. I still need to buy comfortable sneakers for my dc and always need detergents. Send over all your tips (and some chizuk) I’m all ears.

Sorry to hear that.

What’s up with your landlord? Did they give a reason?

They want a raise and we can’t afford that

Would you be able to get cheaper by moving?

Hugs! Apply for all programs you're eligible for. COJO in Flatbush and Yeled VYalda in Boro Park can help you apply.

It might cost more to move than to agree to the raise. Been there done that.

can you downsize? how many children, how many bedrooms, in what neighborhood are you looking?

Are you married? Is your husband working full time? Now that you have more hours available can you grab another part time job?

I'm so sorry.

I agree as moving itself is quite expensive and you will need first, last and a security deposit.

Most landlords will also do a credit check and require that your income - from your tax return - is three or four times the rent.

That’s actually illegal, landlords can’t charge more than a months rent as security deposit and cannot hold additional rent. So they are only allowed to take first month in advance and 1 month equivalent for security, not last months rent also.

Primark has boys/men socks for 3.50 for 5 pairs great socks mind u… it usally easier to figure out how to make more $$ then how to save… it takes a lot of time and effort to be thrifty..I sell things from home… I pay my sales reps 25%.. they can make up to 400 in one evening for a pop up sale… hope that info helps

Don't know where you are in brooklyn, but sometimes moving right outside of where the frum people are can be significantly cheaper.

For example, the over side of Flatbush ave is a LOT cheaper then the rest of Marine Park and there already are some frum families there (in the houses, not really apartments, but still)

Hoping you find a new job quick

Are you able to find online work for the hours that were cut? assuming you were teaching at the school, online teaching can sometimes pay great and doesnt require long term commitment. you can also find jobs tutoring English online etc.
