Yes to both. Medical insurance is over $1k a month pretax (and that’s a plan with a pretty high deductible so we also put a bit on a hsa card ), and taxes and social security comes out to over $1k a month.

My husband and I both work full time, we make together about 210k, Lakewood NJ. I would say we're making it. 5 kids, living simply.
My husband takes care of all the bills, so I have no idea what the take home monthly salary looks like. I know we contribute to a matched retirement fund from one of our employers that comes off pretax. We also save in more short term savings about 20k a year, which lately has gotten quickly spent each year. We're at the stage of bar mitzvah, sleep away camps, plus we've had some very large house repair and renovation costs (a 13k new roof for example) that have wiped our savings clean. We're currently back up to 17k in short term savings.
We do not pay full tuition. If we did, we wouldn't be making it.

We make about ~100k that fluctuates in Lakewood. 3rd kid was born less than 2 months ago. With 2 kids we were making it living very simply and putting a little bit of savings away. Those savings are nearly gone from.baby expenses mixed we mat leave pay. Daycare for the baby doesn't fit in the budget at the moment so not sure what next month will look like yet. DH is self employed so our numbers could change for the better week to week and davening that thats what happens

If you're take home pay is $6k a month on $75k, that means you're not paying any taxes.

We earn $120
6 kids -baby to teens
We cover BH and are able to put away for weddings most months.
We have a small house (payment 3300) and don't have high standards for food. We dress nicely but don't buy designer. My little ones wear hand me downs, my older ones get new clothing.

My my calculation if we made 500k a year we’d be rich in a few years 😂 we’d invest about 150-200k a year

220k before taxes, about 170k after taxes
4 kids
Boro park
Covering bh but feeling the pinch. Barely anything goes to savings. Health insurance, tuitions, camps, bungalow colony, food... it all adds up really fast!

This is incredible. How is this possible? I wrote 175 with three kids and were just just.
We don’t either buy designer but plain clothing is a fortune too!

Do you live out of town? Own your home or pay less then 2k for rent? Is your child in school?
I’m a single mother living in Brooklyn on $80k with one school age child at home. Older kids not yet married but they pay for themselves for the most part. I cut costs where I can but it’s the rent in Brooklyn thats hard and the cost of car insurance. It’s not an option to move from Flatbush and having a car that will not breakdown is a non negotiable. Leasing a car is my only option because I have had my fair share of used cars that broke down over the years and reliable transportation is a must. Money is tight

How? Just ss & Medicaid would bring you to about 6k.
Unless you're not withholding any taxes you would normally be paying something else, at least 10% additionally.

You don't pay any taxes at all including social security/Medicare? How do you do that? That's very impressive.
