Lately the cashew nuts we buy are infested. What do you use when this is an ingredient in a salad. Also, where is best to buy cashews? Nut shop or regular shop?

I've never heard of a nut shop. I just get from a regular store. Where are you located?

You can substitute any nut you like.
What are they infested with? I don't think I've ever seen an infestation in any sort of nuts before.

OP here. Cashew looks like half a moon. We need to open them before we eat them. Either they are Yuck (sorry) or with bugs inside the nut. We have small nut shops in our area and Jerusalem.

Oh boy that sounds awful.
If they're used as a crunchy garnish to a salad, you can replace them with any other nut or seed you like. Pistachios, slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, even crunchy corn "nuts".

That sounds awful. It would put me off buying cashews. I love toasted slivered or sliced almonds with my salads. I find toasting them in the oven briefly just gives them a better flavor. Pine nuts are also delicious.

This is a problem mostly in Israel but not in America usually. I love toasted slivered almonds in salads, or even making seed brittle with sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds
