I'm not saying everyone hold like this, but the poster I was replying to was dismissing the whole idea of kashering your oven without a blowtorch. Obviously, ask ask shaila if you don't hold by Star K, OU, or cRc.

I guess for you. My rav did not say we can kasher the oven. I went thru it this summer for a bungalow I purchased.
It was a cheap, old oven but I didn't want to replace it.
The stove top was kasher'd no problem.
In the end we established that the previous owner probably kept kosher and we used it for dry items such as rewarming challah.
ETA, my own oven at home I kasher from meaty to pareve on 550 for 40 minutes. It was not ok for the unkosher oven scenerio above.
