Should I wrap the pots / dishes / cutlery ? Or cover with anything ? I'm wondering what people do I'm guessing it collects dust over the year just sitting

You can get china storage bags that zip shut and keep dust out.

I use plastic grocery bags that I tie shut. For larger items, I use larger bags. You don't actually HAVE to wrap anything, but it does save you a lot of dishwashing the following year.
Anything silver I wrap tightly in aluminum foil.

I wrap everything in plastic. Usually use garbage bags. I put an entire stack of dishes in a garbage bag. Put the entire pile with the bag on the shelf and done. Same with lots, small appliances, etc.
with pots I’ve heard of taking cling wrap and stretching over the opening. Never tried it though.

I use plastic wrap for large things.
Ziplock bags for small ones.
