Okay, so it took all my guts, and I finally bought something on E-bay. It was an expensive purchase- a gift for a friend, that others contributed $ for, too. Well, I bought it from a Buy-It-Now (not an auction) so when I got the email saying that I won it, I immediately went to Pay-pal to complete the transaction. The seller had a 99% positive feedback and I read thru a lot of the feedback left for him/her and it looked good (it was over 1000 feedbacks).
Anyway, the next day I get an email from PayPal that gives me the UPS tracking # and I look it up, it says my address has been put in electronically and they're waiting for the package to be picked up from the seller. Fine. Well, then I get an email from E-bay saying that the auction was closed and if I receive anything from the seller, I should not go through w/ it cuz it'll be outside of their domain. UM... TOO LATE!! The transaction already went thru w/ PayPal.
I tried emailing the seller on 3 different email addresses- 2 bounced right back at me. I've already filed a complaint w/ PayPal, and I need to wait a few more days to file one w/ EBay.

This was an expensive purchase and I'm really afraid that I'll never see my $ again! In the meantime, I bought the same thing for my friend from Macy's where I live - it was cheaper than Ebay and cheaper than Macy's online!!! I think I'm giving up on on-line shopping for a while.

yeah,I have experience with this, youll forsure get your money back.. save everything you have recieved form ebay and paypal as proof

what's even worse is that because the auction was cancelled, I can't even leave the really negative feedback that I'd like to Exploding anger

keep checking the tracking number just in case the seller does mail it...
I've had some experiences and some not so good ones... sometimes it's luck. But if your seller had pos. feedback, hopefully it'll all work out

oh, right, the tracking number.... now when I check it at ups it says that it's invalid!

Pay pal is very professional and should refund your money, however this is not something fun or that you have time to waste trying to straighten up.

last January a similar thing happened to us after purchasing Disneyland tickets via eBay. They didn't arrive, and we immediately placed a claim with pay pal who would've refunded our money.

BUT-in the end they arrived right before we left for the trip.
so let's hope you'll have a happy ending.

BUTTTTTT- I find it strange how that seller had a positive rating?!?! 1,000 postings DOES take time as we both know! Smile

can u give us his name so that we ebay shopper don't bump into him.
the whole thing is ridiculous.

roza, I was thinking of doing that. do you think it's lashon hara or gezaila (of his business). I just looked at his feedback again. it was 4000+, not 1000! but today and yesterday he got 2 really negative feedbacks (and about 5 positive).
I just went to the member's ebay store- and now absolutely NOTHING is listed for buying or on auction....
so you're all safe for now... unless he goes and signs up under a different name!

sounds like something must have JUST happened to him. Maybe he got sick or went 'under' for it's strange after having done so many transactions to have suddenly dissapeared.

keep us informed with what happens please!

he sounds like a big businessman, so he may just reopen under a different name if he lots to sell but is afraid of his bad rep!

hee-hee. So guess what shows up at my doorstep of Friday?!? A delivery from UPS- the item that I ordered on E-bay. So great, now I have 2 of them. I had told my friend not to open the one from Macy's, so I'm going to have to return that one now. So I'm going to end up with the more expensive one, but oh well.
