The report I read and heard said that the car went to a checkpoint and was sent to another checkpoint for further questioning. Then the car sped up, hit something, went airborne, and then there was an explosion (either from within the car or the gas tank)

Can you link?

They say now it wasn't a bomb.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world.....02406

Excerpt from the article:
The vehicle has been "incinerated" and nothing is left but the engine, she said, adding that no licence plate was recovered.

(Further down) An eyewitness from Ontario, Mike Guenther, said he saw a car speed by at 100mph (160km/h) before flying into the air and erupting into a "fireball".

Within the article, there is also a video clip from an eyewitness.

So everyone is saying now it was an accident. Could be, could be not. Will we ever know?
. Of course it was an accident. They had planned to explode in the middle of a busy intersection crowded with pre-holiday traffic or a government building or a power plant or something similar, and instead all they blew up was themselves. Tsk.

That's convenient, no license plate left. I'm sure they could get security cameras shots before that point showing the license plate.
Is the rest supposed to prove it had a bomb inside or not?

Yup, that's what I read when they were saying it was a failed terror attack. And then they changed their minds.

They changed their minds very quickly, and you probably have to seriously dig to find the original info. None of it comes up anymore.
