Hi,
I teach English in Yerushalayim and we just started teaching online due to the war. I need to teach a class of Hebrew Speakers and Native English Speakers together. Elementary, dati-leumi.
Can anyone suggest a song about Israel - even a part of a song, like a chorus, it just needs to be a few lines - that I can teach them? It can have Hebrew lyrics too, but obviously must have English lyrics. Upbeat, fast, but simple enough for elementary Hebrew speaking students. If there's a YouTube music video to go accompany it, even better!
Thank you!

you are a star!!! kol hakavod.
maybe this song from MBD:
Yerusholaim is not for sale
Voices crying
Thundering throughout our cities
You better run for your life
Back to Utah overnight
Before the mountain top opens wide
And swallows you inside
Yerusholaim your foes will fail
Senseless trying
He's guarding His holy city
He's punishing all its intruders so awfully
They have perished, their names are history

I like the Abie Rottenberg one on Journeys 2 or 3.

Thank you both for your suggestions!
I think I might be able to use the chorus from the Journeys disc. I was hoping for something with a bit faster beat, my girls don't usually love slow songs, but the level is good.
I like the MBD song, but the vocabulary is way too advanced for my students. But thank you!!

This one is about achdut and I cant find a video just the words, but maybe?
Kol yisrael chaverim
It was a dark and cloudy day
Rain fell upon the crowd
And all of those who’d gathered there
Stood sadly with heads bowed.
They all had come to escort
The man they so revered
He taught them life
For more than fifty years.
Grey suits that said ‘Versace’
A shirt that said ‘The Jets’
Chassidim wearing felt hats
Their long coats and their vests.
Black yarmulkas of velvet
And knitted ones in white
A coat of many colors
Shining bright.
CHORUS:
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
Kol Yisroel Araivim
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
I will always be there for you
We’re all one family
Kol Yisroel Chaverim.
VERSE 2:
They all joined in tehillim
And each one shed his tears
They all shared in the legacy
Of their Rebbi through the years.
Never judge another
And help all those in need
Fear Hashem above
The One that sees.
So look beyond the outside
To that which lies within
See what someone could become
Instead of what he’s been.
Share the light of Torah
Ignite the spark inside
Reach out and share
That special gift of life.
CHORUS:
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
Kol Yisroel Araivim
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
We will always be together
We’re all one family
Kol Yisroel Chaverim.
BRIDGE:
And when the winds of hatred blow
Please ask yourselves my friend
Have you done all that
You could have done today
Viahavta liraiacha komocha
Kol yisroel chaverim.
CHORUS:
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
Kol Yisroel Araivim
Kol Yisroel Chaverim
We will always be together
We’re all one family
Kol Yisroel Chaverim.

Ahavas Yisrael Song - Abie Rottenberg
https://sonichits.com/video/Th....._Song
VERSE 1:
I am an ancient wall of stone, atop a hill so high.
And if you listen with your heart, you just may hear my cry.
Where has the Bais Hamikdash gone, I stand here all alone.
How long am I to wait for all my children to come home?
A house of marble and of gold once stood here by my side.
From far and wide all came to see its beauty and its pride.
But Sin’as Chinam brought it down, and with it so much pain.
Now only Ahavas Yisroel can build it once again.
CHORUS 1:
Together, together, you stood by Har Sinai, my daughters and sons.
Forever, forever, you must stand together forever as one.
VERSE 2:
You come and stand beside my stones to raise your voice in prayer.
You ask “When will the Golus end, how much more can we bear?”.
But Sin’as Chinam still lives on, it lingers in your heart.
How can you come back home to me, while you remain apart?
CHORUS 2:
Together, together, you stood by Har Sinai, my daughter and sons.
Forever, forever, you must stand together forever as one.
Together, together, you stood by Har Sinai, B’nai Avraham.
Forever, forever, you must stand together forever as one.

Uncle moishy has an old good one called Yerushalayim. I think it’s on Spotify, but maybe it’s too young for your class, although the level of the words might be right.
Lyrics go something like this-
There is a place, yerushalayim
Our special Place, yerushalayim
Where we belong, and if we keep trying,
Soon we’ll be back, yerushalayim
Let’s go, I’m on my way.
Let’s go, for a special day.
Let’s go, our home, Yerushalayim

Do you know ברחובינו הצר
It's the original for the English song "Yerushalayim our Home" MBD. Our teacher in seminary taught us the Hebrew which is really beautiful. Tune and words are also more detailed in Hebrew.
The English
In a village near our home,
works a carpenter alone.
He's been carving wood for years,
shtenders shelves and chairs.
Daily buyers come and go,
but there's one thing they don't know.
His thoughts, so far away,
while waiting for a special day.
There is a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That he'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home
Yes, there's a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That he'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home.
In a crumbling little home
lives a fiddler all alone
His inheritance so dear
for many ancient years.
It's this instrument he holds
his great-grandfather he's told
Would hurry off each day to the courtyards of Hashem to play.
There is a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That he'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part
. Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home.
Yes, there's a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That he'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home
.
On a mountain on a stone,
sits mashiach all alone.
Suffering for years,
from all our sins he bears.
While so painfully he cries,
prayers piercing through the skies.
He's pleading with Hashem to take us all back home again.
Yes, there's a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That we'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home.
Yes, there's a dream a vision deep within his heart.
That we'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home.
Yes, there's a dream, a vision deep within his heart.
That we'll rebuild the Beis Hamikdash part by part.
Doing mitzvos, adding precious stones.
Our dream, our palace, Yerushalayim our home
Ani maamin, ani maamin, ani maamin..

I inspired myself and learned to play it last night on the keyboard. My kids are getting annoyed at me but I don't care. It's a tefillah.
