Mix the coffee itself with the brown sugar. Better to use something like Elite (Israeli powder style) coffee than the Taster's Choice type large granules. If that's all you have crush them in a baggie or something until powdered.

I made this tonight and it's in the process of baking, bh. There seemed to be too much of the filling mixture and too little of the batter. I made another batch of batter to complete the third layer. It smells delicious!

I do not dissolve the coffee in water
It mostly dissolves on its own.
And the chocolate chips don't melt, they get kind of soft as in chocolate chip cookies
Yum!
I haven't made this in ages!
