So my dd came home from camp and informed me that her "best friend" has been mean to her all week. She has called her and other girls names (idot and loser) and made fun of another girl because she has a birthmark on her chin. I had to give my kid a real heart to heart and explain, that IMO, she cannot be mean back to her, but she has every right to firmly tell this girl to back off and stop talking to her in such a mean way.
As they age the issues become more difficult to deal with.
Girls can be real witchy (and a word that rhymes with that that starts with "b") sometimes. And she's only 10! Help!

Sounds like my dd's "best friend". My dd is also 10. Every other day, she tells me that her bf said something not nice to her and wasn't really being her friend. Then the next day, she wants to go to her house . I guess she started being nice to her again. Her friend is very nice, I guess it's just the influence of other girls in the class at the time. Come to think of it, I don't know who would bother her b/c she's friendly w/ everybody.
