Something I struggled with this past year is when kids finished work quickly and others still needed time, it was hard to stay consistent with a method of what to do as some did better with those options than others.I had made work packets, coloring sheets, books . Each were allowed for different times. Some other options at times. These were the main.
Younger elementary age boys, general studies. (Girls is another world)
What is your method?

Allow them to read a book.
When I was in school we had a class library, the teacher asked girls to lend a book to the class library, which was on a table or shelf in the back of the classroom.
Nobody was allowed to take those books home, but we could read if we finished our work early.

One of my kids' teachers gives points to kids for creating their own bonus activity sheets to be shared with the class. So some kids will make mazes, others word searches, etc
And they can work on creating their bonus content during free time in class after finishing work or at home, and if they're not creating, they have a pile of sheets their friends made. More exciting than anything printed from the computer 🙂

When I was teaching we had a reading caterpillar (5th grade)
When the children completed their work they could read a book.
When they finished their book they filled out a “book report” form that was in a shape of a circle. The goal was to go around the entire room to form a very long caterpillar.
If the caterpillar went all around we had a party.
The form was easy
About the book in 3 sentences, Favorite Character, Favorite part etc.

This is great!
I've been trying to figure out a good book report system that isn't intimidating.

You can create a workbook with math examples or reading stuff. When kids finish early they can do those books voluntarily. When they finish it they get a prize or reward
