Did anyone else get their glasses by Sagels opticians on Manor Road? He was an elderly German man, really lovely, I think his wife also worked there. This would have been in the mid 80s, I recall going to Silvermans on Stamford Hill when I was a bit older so not sure if Sagels closed down or I thought Silvermans had nicer glasses.

Did anyone else get their clothing in Itzingers (near the Egg Stores?)

I remember Losners. Did anyone Jewish get gowns there???

Wow. What memories. I surely do remember J Segal Opticians. We used to get our shabbos clothes at Itzingers.

Itzingers is still in existence! It`s called Shoe and Fashion. That sweet elderly man (Mr Itzinger?) still serves there, I think! Until 120 iyH!

I doubt anyone managed to get gowns from Losners- they were extremely immodest and provocative, right on display in central Stamford Hill!!

I only know of 1 person who bought a gown at Losners. She had material added in at the neckline, but it wasn't a provocative style.

Who remembers the Italian guy with a mustache and small hat. He would come to the house collecting tzedakah for himself and always say" Kol Tuuf". He wasnt even Jewish. He was forever in the betting shop and the Jewish community was funding his addiction

My mother did!! Very modest dress unless she added material.
Sorry I'm not from Stamford Hill but I'm still loving it. My dh and mother are from there.. I remember Losners, we hit it as soon as we reach Stamford Hill from Manchester. Dh and I have a running joke, still now that when we reach that point I say 'mum got her wedding dress from Losners!'

I once got a stunning new shabbos outfit from a shop in someone's basement. Anyone remember what it was called? I think they had a disabled child because I remember a special stair lift/ramp with railing outside their house

Does anyone remember Alfray Bakeries on Manor Road, and The Hat Centre near Itzingers?

Kiddicentre was originally at the location of The Hat Centre, before moving to Stamford Hill where a Woolworths had been and currently is a William Hill betting shop (next to Scopes Charity shop)

I think it was Kiddie Shoes that first sold shoes inside that Kiddicentre before selling inside Kiddie Chic.
