They had the best perogin and put whipped cream on their chocolate milk. My grandparents took us there for dinner.

Ratners was also a favorite.

We also went to Weiss’s in Coney Island and Edna’s on Church or Ave C

You got me so in the mood of a tuna sandwich on an everything bagel with sour pickles. They were always a bit angry looking. We’re they Holocaust survivors or Russians? I miss them!

Omg!! That’s what I ate for lunch almost every single day for a few years!!!
I was scared of the heavy Russian lady! She was always screaming…
I once saw her taking a walk on Friday night in BP- she was schmoozing with a friend. I didn’t realize she had a life outside hot bagels! After that I wasn’t really intimidated by her anymore. What happened to her??
I could bite into that everything bagel right now!!!

Yeah… then they would get their toppings which probably included mouse droppings!
But that smell was heavily!! We ate the bagels anyway!!
Remember there was a cat in that tiny store?
This is over 20 years ago…

Someone wrote about Mannies in the basement… I couldn’t even bring myself to write that after reading everyone’s memories of upper class boutiques…
My mother took me there and no where else- and made me feel like it was a privilege- because that’s all she could afford.
Do you remember the “dumping sale” they used to advertise?

I was a little girl and remember my mother shopping there . It must have been a sale day because it was a zoo in that basement .

This is such a fun thread!

I'm sure I'm really dating myself...

Two I didn't see yet are Lester's, my mother used to take us shopping there, I can't remember where it was!

And most of all she took us to a store in Williamsburg that had kids stuff on the first floor and women's on the second, anyone remember the name? We bought all our shabbos clothese there.
