2 of my boys have already graduated 8th grade. I got them both a camera which they appreciated very much. My parents bought them each a set of artscroll machzorim. Also really appreciated.

You didn’t mention a budget or his interests, but some more ideas are hoverboard , e-scooter, watch, small carry on luggage, fancy pen, wallet (can be monogrammed), cufflinks , shtender, quality earbuds.

His bar mitzvah was just a few months ago so he got many gifts then. Like watch, cufflinks, lots of sefarim...
I do not allow my children to ride motorized toys. So no hoverboard, e-scooter.
Budget is about $100

My friend took her son out to a restaurant for his graduation. You can pick a restaurant that serves on china with waiter service to feel more festive. You can take him alone with you and your husband so that it doesn't break the bank
