I’m OOT and work in chinuch

My salary is what you would expect (low)

OOTH I do get childcare for my little ones covered.

DH was fired from his job and doesn’t appear to have any luck finding a new one. (To be fair to him, the position expectations changed when his company merged with another, so his role suddenly became way out of his wheelhouse. ) it’s been almost six months

Right now we only have little kids so no huge expenses . Feeding two toddlers, a grown man, and a breastfeeding mom is our biggest issue.
To be honest, I am losing faith in his ability to find another job. I’m not saying it’s his fault, it’s just that things aren’t going well and he’s been pretty single minded my focused on the process since March.

I can’t imagine leaving chinuch. I know public schools pay more, but I worked in ps for a few years and hated it. I really love being able to teach Torah (or, tbh, secular studies in a torahdig way). I can’t imagine not doing it. It feels like the most important thing in the world to me. Like HaShem gave me teaching skills so I could help young Jewish girls and boys learn and grow.

That said… am I being irresponsible? Do I need to leave the field and find a new job to support my family? We’re doing ok, but that’s mostly because we have good savings and those won’t last forever if this continues …

Fwiw- we don’t have rent or mortgage expenses just upkeep and a vital appliance seems to break every month.

There is such a morah shortage right now, maybe you can negotiate a raise with your school.

im a speech therapist and need to switch to public school bc of the benefits and money. its very ahrd for me since I really only want to work with yiddishe children. I worked in the bronx before and hated it and felt very different there. but its hard wrapping my head around the fact I wont be able to be in a frum environment and be as available to my kids.... but I have to do what is best for my family...

id switch to public school until ur dh pulls his weight
