I am a mountain so very high
I can reach way up to the sky
The Torah should be given on me
For I am as tall as can be, you see
oh No! I am much greater than you
There are so many things I can do
The Torah should be given on me
For I am as strong as can be, you see
But little Har Sinai just stood there and sighed,
"I know I'm not tall, I know I'm not wide
The Torah can't be given on me
For I'm a plain mountain," he said simply (I sing: For I am as small as can be, you see)
But from all the mountains Hashem chose Sinai
Because he did not hold himself high
He had such simple and humble ways
And from here we learn humility pays

Pink...THANK YOU for not using "humbleness"! No such word, but it doesn't stop the schools using it.

One day I got so fed up with the use of the word humbleness in that song that I went and looked it up in the dictionary to "prove" that everyone was saying it wrong and that they just didn't know English. Well the word was there in plain sight. It's a noun.

LOL. Even though it's wrong, I just HAVE to say humbleness. I've been singing that song since I was little & can't get used to it any other way.

The little Har Sinai song is so cute and an easy for kids, however, the idea that humbless means thinking less of oneself is not really the Jewish understanding (think Moshe writing about himself that he is the greatest navi and also that he is the most humble).
So when I teach this song I change the lyrics a bit to reflect this understanding a bit more.
Sharing it here if anyone would like it this way.

The Torah may not be given on me

But from all the mountains HaShem chose Sinai

Sorry. This is anti Torah (you of course did not realize)…
You are saying that Har Sinai said the Torah cant be given on him BECAUSE he refuses to act boastful.
This seems to indicate that H’ was chas vshalom WAITING for the most boastful mountain to win and say they are “better than everybody”and since he refuses, he cant have the Torah given on him.
And then to boot, as if the mountain had the power to change H’ ‘mind’?!?!
