My 10 year old is going to sleepaway camp this summer and currently still wears the more “babyish” pajamas (sets) and would love to take them to camp. My older boys all sleep in tshirts and shorts (or white undershirts and shorts) and all switched to that when they were younger than 10.
Anyhow… question is what does the youngest bunk in a boys camp wear as pajamas?

Sweatpants/sweatshorts and t shirts or t shirt undershirts. Just like your other boys do.

Please don't let your son be “that kid” who comes looking like a little boy.

Okay that’s what I thought. He’s really not happy about it (having to switch) but I’ll convince him.
Thanks!

Can he bring both? I don’t think it’s healthy to make a kid follow peer pressure if they don’t want to.

If he used to the sets, you might be able to ease him into switching by buying similar long pants in solid colors and pairing them with loose short sleeve graphic tees. Those will pass in camp and he can start practicing wearing them now.

“Big” boys don’t wear pajamas, they sleep in undershirt and shorts. No particular brand.

Sorry. IMO in this case you are wrong. There is enough place to make your uniqueness known in camp.

But there are basics to fitting in.
And sometimes (not always but here yes), perr pressure is there for a reason. Its ok to wear what e/o else is wearing in this case…

You might still be able to get away with this specific set. Maybe.

So curious what the reason is for peer pressure in this case (I’m planning on making him wear a tshirt and shorts/pants but confused as to what normal “reason” there can be aside from doing whatever everyone else is doing)

My son was 6th grade in camp last year and still wore sets. Not super babyish ones with cars but like tops with words and design on pants. Or bingo had Shinu solid color pajama sets for pretty cheap.
He had no issues with it at all.

Not all kids like wearing short sleeves, it gets pretty cold in camp at night.

His camp also had a rule of no tank tops or short pants for pajamas. So it really depends on that too.

This year he'll be taking random short and long sleeve tees with solid color pants.

T-shirt v-neck undershirts and pajama pants, not sweatpants, whatever I find in target or Walmart

What reason can possibly exist for this kind of peer pressure?!
At 10 years old he can wear whatever he wants to sleep as long as it's not super babyish designs. Puhleez

He shouldn’t wear cars and fire trucks but more basic sets are fine if he’s a confident kid and understands that it’s not the norm. Dd likes nightgowns even though almost everyone else in camp wear leggings and t shirts. She had a great time socially and this did not have any negative impact..
We actually had a girl in seminary who wore footsie pajamas because she thought it was fun. She was the first one engaged out of 100+ students.
