We live in Lakewood. For various reasons I don't want to send her to Camp SCHI or the Center. She has Downs Syndrome and is high functioning so I'm looking into sending her to a mainstream camp upstate. They have a special bunk for campers like her that's run privately by the camp (IOW they don't work with agencies or take state funding) and the girls are mostly mainstreamed with accommodations as needed. She would probably need a 1:1 or 1:2 counselor.

How much would you pay for the summer? For a half summer?

Hoping to hear from mothers that did this.

I'm confused. Doesn't the camp set the price for this?

They do. There's wiggle room for a possible scholarship. I don't think anyone pays full price so I'm wondering how much to ask for.

I have no idea what it would cost. But I’d say what type of discount can I have.

Op, I'd love to know which camp. Its a few years until I'm at that stage but I can see myself having a similar dilemma. It's never to early for me to learn and keep my eyes and ears open!

If you live in NY there are plenty of camps that take OPDWW through NY agencies so you can send for free.

Yes, I know opwdd gives a lot of funding towards many things. However I'm also in Lakewood and we don't have anything like that here
