My husband is a middle school grade (don't want to be too specific) Rebbe and gets paid 48k. He works 11 months out of the year.
Can the wives of Lakewood Rebeim or anyone else chime in and advise what is considered reasonable for this year? My husband teaches Special Ed kids and has been teaching for 8 years.
ETA: I also would like to know how much regular ed rebbi gets paid in Lakewood

What hours?
What days?
Does he get any free tuition? Any health insurance?
Is he hired by the school or an agency?

8.30-2.30. Sunday and Friday till 1
no free tuition or insurance)
rebbe for a program that has each grade in different schools- similar to Ptach or Ichud in NY. there's a separate principal ect. parents pay tuition to this program and then program pays him.

Not sure if he has a masters but I'm getting paid a drop less than that for 3.5 hours a day 4 days a week in a similar setting. It's my 3rd year teaching but hoping to get 48 for next year (same hours) I live in ny so may be different and I have a masters but your husband's salary doesn't seem fair for what he's getting (I'm saying this in hopes that he'll ask for more, not to cv's make you feel bad) Hashem should shower you with all the bracha!

That is the average salary for a rebbe in my boys lakewood like yeshiva but with fewer hours and a lot of employee perks. Here pre1a-4th switches to English at 12:30 and 6-8th at 1:30. 2:30 is 1-2 hours more teaching time for the same salary.
To me, 48k for those hours and specialized skills and no benefits, seems under paid.

Sounds underpaid to me. I would expect that salary for a gen ed rebbi, not special ed

What’s a teachers license? Is it a college degree?
Update- I just looked it up and I see that in order to get the license he would have to have a BA. Is that correct?

It’s not usually like that in lakewood…

My husband is a special ed Rebbe in NY he does not have a degree and works 10 months a year. He said the average pay for this position is close to 60k. hours are 9-3.
My husband has a friend who teaches regular ed in Lakewood and make in the mid 50k.
Both of them are in the field for less than 5 years.

I heard firsthand from a principal of a girl's school; someone asked her what's the average salary of a teacher. She answered that the range is very broad, she has experienced teachers who are working for years and are getting paid less than new assistant teachers. It all depends on the person applying for the job, how big their expectations are. Principals always ask new applicant: How much do you want?

I'm assuming your husband's friend who teaches regular Ed is a Rebbe- correct?

This thread is really interesting to me. I live OOT and work in a school. Rebbeim working at the school from 1-6 years are making a range between 35-45k. This is a 10 months position, hours 8-1 mon-fri and 9-1 on Sundays. They do not pay tuition. More tenured rebbeim who have been with the school for longer are making more. There is a 2% raise each year.
I'm curious if the salaries you are posting include any benefits like free or discounted tuition?
Just a note that most rebbeim feel underpaid and the other locals schools are paying maybe 50-60k but I do not think it includes such a major tuition benefit.
