Why? How?
Just wear pants and socks |
It's European. Everyone can chill. Pants and socks is normal for you, you do you.
I much prefer the very accepted European look of knee socks or tights. Especially since the European clothing I buy my children are mostly short pants or bloomers, even in the winter.
I don't understand the issue here.

It’s mostly a fashion thing, but from a practical perspective - it’s cheaper to replace $8 tights for a crawler than $40 Shabbos pants.

Girls wear dresses and tights in the winter
Boys wear long pants and socks in the winter

If a girl can wear a short dress why can a boy not wear short pants? This is completely cultural and in many places it's completely normal.

That’s cultural though. Little boys don’t run colder than little girls.

Dunno, guess for fashion?
I don't dress my kids in shorts in the winter.

Because when a girl wears a short dress in the winter, they generally wear tights with it, not socks.

Of course they don't run colder!
Girls keep warm by wearing dresses with tights
Boys keep warm by wearing long pants with socks
Absolutely ridiculous to put tights on boys.

Why is it so hard to understand that it is completely normal in some circles?

In some circles, the weirder you dress the kids, the more fashionable your considered.... for some odd reason. In some circles, kids are dressed so hilarious, it's a show & entertainment for everyone.

While I didn't dress my son like that in the winter, thick shorts with tights is not less warm than a short dress with tights. Possibly it's warmer because it doesn't ride up, but definitely not less warm.

Shorts with tights is a pain for a toilet trained kid.

It is normal in some circles - I.e. Europe. But when its not the norm, and you decide to dress your son in Europe style clothing, it comes off as weird. That's it. If you like it, go for it. Your son is young enough not to care.

The difference is that girls have to wear skirts by a certain age, and I think ever for me as an adult that it's brutal. I wish I could wear pants in the winter. It's so cold!
For the sake of halacha I will eventually put girls in skirts and dresses in the winter, but not just for fashion.

Maybe. But in your last post you mentioned about being cold.
And who said they are doing it on toilet trained children? It's done more on toddlers.

Like I said before, I'm European and over here it's normal to dress little boys in shorts and tights. It's not some new weird fashion fad, my grandfather even wore it, as did my father, brothers and now kids.

Classy is society dependent. If a European dresses in American style classy clothing, it wouldn't be referred to as classy in Europe. Same concept here. European classy clothing doesn't mean it will be defined as classy here. In the US, these styles are rather referred to as vintage, not classy.
But if you like it - who cares how its defined. You do you (as long as your son doesn't have awareness of styles).
