There was one printed ad several weeks ago (before purim I think) but nothing followed after that. Probably the demand was so big they didn’t need to advertise more.

Yes, I think the ad was something like - details coming soon - and it never came.

In any case, since we don’t know for a fact that people bought to gauge prices, let’s keep the anger off here. Yes it’s disappointing that there weren’t enough tickets. I assume most were grabbed by people like the rest of us who just wanted some Yiddish entertainment.

I guess it just shows that the population - and demand - of Yiddish speaking, entertainment seeking people has grown substantially. If it truly is a good money making business, maybe more will appear.

The price gouging goes on at every play. There's a whatsapp group for it & ads in the daily paper the week leading up to yom tov. Those people aren't even hiding it.

Whats the difference if ppl got tickets through HCS or through buying them directly?
The plays were completely filled up.. not like they could make another play..
Why the anger at HCS they are only sponsors

The whatsapp group has no gouging. How much more was a ticket sold for?

Most people that have tickets, got them before tickets went on sale for the public. It's so sad that this has become such a horrible politics thing.
HCS people took most of the tickets and gave them to friends, neighbors, cousins.....

Im a HCS person I took 4 tickets. Dh and kids. Thanks for the good idea to take extra next year since I am bad for having a special needs kid. ETA hcs plays are not open to public so it didnt take away from you anything.

No one was talking about you. They're talking about staff taking tickets for the play intended for the general public. Not for Sunday's plays. I'm ok with that too (they're the sponsors, ver s'hut di maya hut di daya) but regardless it's not about you at all.

I'm not angry. Really not angry. Just saying facts.
I know for a fact that inside people are selling/will be selling tickets last minute for double the price. This goes on at every single play.

Because they're giving out free tickets to whoever they want to, not just their family. Their extended family, friends, neighbors. This means that by the time ticket sales open up to the public, there aren't many tickets left giving others a tiny chance of getting a ticket. That's just not right. There are 2 designated plays that are only for HCS families and not for the public. It's not right of them to give away tickets to the other plays that's meant for the public.

It's time for them to let hsc go. It's ridiculous that there giving away two plays for hcs. Never mind were are they getting so much money from?

They are, but many of them don't care as much. I know someone who's going who would enjoy a magic show just as much.

I'm actually answering another leaf who has this preconceived notion that the public plays had staff members grabbing and throwing tickets at family for free. My family paid for every ticket full price! They are allowed to reserve tickets for their close family.

I'm literally referring to a friend of mine and a conversation we had. I fail to see what the issue is. Can you explain? We were having a good laugh at how I worked so hard to get tickets for my boys and she isn't really all that interested in going.

Oh, yes you're right. Although people were grabbing for full price too... It may not be free but it's extremely limited.
